Introducing G-Pilot, Selected for Year-End Howard University Film Screening

The Cathy Hughes School of Communications, Department of Media, Journalism and Film (MJF) at Howard University presents its annual, invite-only, Year End Student Film Screening for 2019/2020.  The screening is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 10th to Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Introducing G-Pilot by Briana M. Andrews is among the undergraduate and graduate student projects selected for feature at the screening.   Briana worked as the Shreditor (shooter, producer, editor) and the mini-documentary features an interview, in-studio performance and music video featuring up-and-coming hip-hop recording artist G-Pilot.

“To Each, Her Throne” Screening Date Announced, RSVP Now

The day we have been waiting for is almost here!  It gives me great joy to announce our date of release during Women’s History Month.  To Each, Her Throne, is a female-centric web-based docuseries produced by Briana M. Andrews.  It features women from all walks of life and boasts an all-female cast and crew.  Moreover, it focuses on challenges encountered and overcome by women. Memorial Day 2019 – Upcoming Event, Veteran Short Film and TV Series – Photo, Video & Design Project

In honor of Memorial Day, I would like to thank all those who gave their lives so that we can live in a country where democracy is the shelter of freedom and peace.

I am pleased to introduce you to The Shades and Heroic Episodes, two short films made with our veterans, community members, advocates and survivors. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been extremely busy working in lockstep with the Director of this project, Lisa Regina.  I proudly support our veterans!  Thus far, working on this project commissioned by Regina’s non-profit organization, A Write to Heal 501(c)(3) has been an amazing experience where I learned about the personal stories of heroes who served in our armed forces.

From our pre-production meetings and grassroots marketing to location scouting, shot-list development and working to secure quotes from vendors, this was a multifaceted project that pulled from various skillsets.  I handled graphic design on the 16-page theater program which is finally off to print and I’ll be handling multi-cam videography and event photography at the premiere on June 2, 2019 at Broadway Theatre in Pitman, NJ.  Click here to learn more about the event and buy tickets on Eventbrite.

Women in TV and Film MiniDoc and New Media Project – 2019 NMP Showcase at Rowan University

The official screening for Women in TV and Film, the mini-documentary and new media practicum project will be presented at the 2019 New Media Showcase at Rowan University.  This event is taking place on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 10AM-1PM in the Chamberlain Student Center.  Admission is free and open to the general public.  If you can attend, please come out and support.   

This event is an interactive, personal, meet-and-greet style setting where you can check out this semester-long multimedia body of work at my designated workstation and discuss the project directly with me.  The mini-documentary hasn’t been published anywhere and I’ll have a display with the artifacts, supporting documents and the poster for this project.  Don’t miss out!

Selected BTS Photographer / Videographer, Upcoming NYC Women’s Weekend Film Challenge

I am absolutely thrilled to share that I have been selected to work on the upcoming Women’s Weekend Film Challenge taking place April 4-7, 2019 in New York.  They fielded hundreds of applications, and I am happy for the opportunity to be a team player for the challenge.  This women in film initiative places professional female filmmakers on crews to write, shoot and edit a short film over the course of a weekend.   This will be highly collaborative and intense experience where we pool resources and talents to conceptualize and create a polished competition-worthy short-film in an incredibly tight time-frame.

Screening of the completed film will take place at The Museum of Moving Image on April 18, 2019.  Visit Women’s Weekend Film Challenge to learn more.

New York City Based Female Filmmakers, Upcoming Events – Women’s History Month

There are several upcoming events in the New York City area that should be on the radar for all established and aspiring female filmmakers.  These events offer an excellent opportunity to network, learn and support fellow women in TV and film.  From festivals and conferences, to funding panels, round-tables and screenings – these are events you don’t want to miss!

On Sunday, March 17, 2019 at MOMA PS2, the inaugural Black Women Film Conference co-organized by The New Negress Film Society will take place. This is a treat, particularly for Black / African-American female filmmakers because this community-building event will feature an exchange of filmmaking strategies and offer a space for our voices and experiences.

Next up, on Thursday March 21, 2019, the NYC Women Filmmakers (NYCWF) will hold a Creative Financing Panel at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.  This is another opportunity for knowledge exchange, collaboration, resource sharing and support for female filmmakers.  This event is particularly useful for budgeting and learning strategies to fund your next project.

On Saturday March 23, 2019, the Girl Power Film + Media Summit curated by Imagine This Productions offers a day of discussions, panels, film screenings, workshops, and a dinner party.  This event celebrates Women’s History Month, and also serves as an inspirational launchpad for the future of women in the film and television industries.
